Athlete’s foot symptoms and prevention
July 20, 2009
Many people across the world face major problems from various skin conditions like athlete’s foot. Nothing can be more frustrating than an infection on the skin along with the itchiness and odour it can bring. Characterised by a burning sensation and itching, athlete’s foot can also result in cracking, pain, skin peeling, redness and bleeding.
Athlete’s foot generally occurs when the feet or other body parts stay warm, moist and finally become infected with a fungus. This skin condition can also happen if a person is in direct contact with an infected person or object. The problems are generally caused by a fungus called a ‘trichophyton’, and athlete’s foot can become a major problem if it is not prevented and treated early.
By following the below tips, you can easily keep away the persistent fungi that cause athlete’s foot:
• Make sure that you wash your feet with water, using soap from time to time. By keeping the susceptible areas dry and clean, you can easily avoid any fungus that will thrive on your feet.
• Avoid wearing footwear like socks, shoes, and slippers that are owned by other people. Doing this will avoid any spreading of the fungal disease.
• Make sure that you wear shoes that are made from leather and as far as possible, avoid wearing shoes made from synthetic fibres like rubber as they do not allow air to circulate around your feet.
Apart from athlete’s foot, there are many other problems you can have with your feet, so it is essential to take proper care of them in order to avoid future problems.
