We human beings walk, run, skip and jog every day of our lives most of the time without any awareness about the two things attached to our lower limbs which are enabling us to do these wonderful things. OUR FEET…. Our feet become tired and weary carrying around all our weight every day. We muffle them away for most of the year. They are not allowed to breathe and we wonder why we have infections such as athletes foot infection, fungal nail infection and verrucae. Also in the winter chilblains and cold chilled feet . 0ften the temperature of our feet is changed dramatically when we come in from the freezing cold , take off our boots and socks and literally stick our feet infront of a blazing fire or very close to a hot radiator.
The very delicate blood vessels in our feet need time to become gently accostomed to the changes in temperature we subject them to on a daily basis in the winter months. 0ne way we can assist our feet in this area is to use a blend of essentials oils which assist the circulation and gently comes to the resuce. Footessentials ‘Warm that Sole’ does just this. Patients ask ‘”How can I cure my chilblains and help my feet to stay warm all year round?” This blend of essentials oils will do just that . Essential oils have a very tiny molecular structure which enable them to enter the blood stream and do their ‘magic work’ very effectively. They need to be applied twice per day but this is no hardship as they are beautiful and uplifting to use.
The oils used in the blend ‘Warm that Sole’ are warming.soothing, antiseptic, antibacterial and rejuvenating. They are perfect for Reynauds sufferers as it can also be used for the hands. This blend has been featured in the Reynauds Society’s newsletter over the past winter months.

Feet can be very vulnerable to disease as they are in such close proximity to the ground. You may not realise this, but your feet are one of the most sensitive parts of your body. And it is a part of the body that is also prone to problems that can take a very long time to heal.
Diabetes related foot diseases
The people who are especially vulnerable to foot diseases are people who suffer from diabetes. Diabetes is a result of the lack of insulin produced within the body. As a result, the body cannot control the sugar levels within it. Thus, people with diabetes may have to inject themselves with insulin to balance the level of sugar in their body. As a result of diabetes the healing process can be drastically slowed down. And this is especially slow when it comes to the foot. Hence, a small cut that would take a person without diabetes a week to heal completely, would take a person with diabetes around a month. It takes them three to four times more than the normal persons healing metabolism.
Places they are most at risk
People with diabetes are especially at risk of foot related diseases as the infections tend to be difficult to get rid of. They are at risk to diseases and infections such as athlete’s foot that can be caught in public places such as swimming pools and public showers. There are treatments such as fungal nail treatment, athlete’s foot treatment, Chilblains treatment, verruca warts treatment and antifungal treatments, which can be used to solve most of these problems.

Foot diseases are extremely common. They can range from small infections to diseases that can end up causing serious harm to your whole leg. Foot diseases mostly arise because the feet have not been taken proper care of.
Foot diseases:
The common foot problems that people face are fungal and bacterial conditions, dry skin, corns, warts, bunions and ingrown nails. Fungal and bacterial conditions such as athlete’s foot occur due to wearing shoes for long periods of time. A shoe is a dark, humid, warm and hospitable place for fungus to grow. Signs to watch out for are dry skin, blisters, redness, itching and peeling. If not treated properly, they can take a long time to cure or may ever reoccur.
Symptoms to watch out for:
Dry skin can be detected by symptoms such as itching and burning feet. Corns and calluses can also arise due to a certain part of your foot being in constant pressure or they can be caused from friction against the inner surface of the shoe. There are also skin viruses known as warts, which at times can be painful if left untreated. Bunions on the other hand occur when the joints of the big toe do not fit together.
Another common condition is the ingrown toe nail. An ingrown toe nail can be the result of cutting your toe nails incorrectly. The nail then tears into the nail bed.
There are more dramatic illnesses such as hammertoe, which is due to an enlarged toe knuckle. This is usually the result of ill fitting shoes. Spurs is another condition which can affect your feet and spurs are the development of extra calcium on the bones of your feet.
With so many diseases and illnesses affecting feet, it is extremely important to take good care of your feet.

There are various kinds of fungal skin infections, and unfortunately most fungal skin infections cannot be cured easily.
The development of the fungus is usually very quick. When the symptoms disappear, you may think that the fungi have vanished from your skin, but they may reappear after a few days.
In most cases, a doctor is able to detect a fungal skin infection. Normally, the symptoms are dry, scaly, and red itchy skin. A fungal skin infection can either be in a particular part of the body or in very specific areas.
People who are on antibiotics and steroids have a high risk of getting a fungal skin infection due to their natural resistance becoming diminished. Besides eliminating the infection, the medication also reduce the helpful bacteria on our body. When the helpful bacteria are reduced, fungi take the opportunity to colonise the affected area.
Therefore, it is important for you to keep your skin fresh and dry at all times. This is because moisture can attract bacteria and fungi.

Skin infections are common occurrences and are usually caused by viruses, fungi and bacteria. They mostly happen to those whose immune systems are weakened on account of other diseases. Fungal skin infections are easily spread and can be very difficult to cure. There are a number of different skin infections that have different causes, symptoms and treatments. Various treatments are available, depending on the fungal skin infection that a person has encountered.
Common places that get infected and why
One of the most common areas to get fungal skin infections is the foot; on the areas around the balls of the feet and on toe nails. This is because infections generally thrive in a humid environment. Fungal skin infections on the foot can get worse if the person constantly wear shoes. This is because the insides of shoes are mostly damp and humid, which is the perfect environment for infections.
Why people fall prey to infections
Usually the people who get affected by fungal skin infections are older adults for various reasons. More years of being exposed to skin infections and reduced blood circulation can cause a person to get fungal skin infections. Thicker nails can also contribute to skin infections.
How to treat fungal skin infections
There are many antifungal treatments and fungal nail treatments available. These can get rid of skin infections quickly and successfully. Wearing clean and dry socks and shoes can also be effective and can reduce the chances of developing skin infections. Trimming nails and wearing sandals and flip-flops in the summer and in bathrooms can also help.
