Diseases that infect our feet

Feet are the strongest and most sensitive parts of our body as they hold the entire weight of the human body. Therefore it is extremely important to take good care in order to keep away from various diseases that infect them.
Warts are a common viral infection that grows inside the skin of the sole and is constantly pushed inside due to the pressure of the body weight.Verrucas are a type of wart which forms round a spot and is dark in colour. It’s painful only if pressure is applied. Warts can be cured at home with a pumice stone however if it is severe, cosmetic treatment is advisable.
Chilblains are also a kind of foot infection that is mostly seen in older people. It is caused due to cold climatic conditions which lead to swelling, redness and itching. In such a case it’s necessary to keep the feet and toes warm in order to provide blood circulation.
Another very common foot disease is athlete’s foot. It is a fungal infection in which the skin begins to peel, crack and itch severely. Such infections are usually contracted at swimming pools and damp areas. Antifungal creams may be used to control the infection however it’s better to take the right course of prescribed antibiotics for speedy recovery.
Toenails can also be infected with severe fungal infections if proper hygiene is not maintained. Regular trimming and cleanliness ensures healthy growth and good looking feet.
