Do not overlook fungal skin infections

September 30, 2008

Fungal skin infections usually occur where skin surfaces meet. This can be between the toes, or at joints such as armpits, the genital area and the breasts. A lot of these fungal skin infections exist on the upper layer of skin and do not penetrate deeper.

The feet, especially the toes are very susceptible to these infections. People who wear socks and shoes throughout the day, especially in warm offices, tend to suffer if they ignore their feet. Diagnosis of fungal skin infections is better left to experienced medical professionals. They will examine skin samples under a microscope.

A specialist will be able to tell exactly what kind of an infection it is and will also be able to give proper guidance as to how to treat it and what sort of after care measures should be taken.

Fungal skin infections must be taken care of as soon as possible as they can be discomforting and are definitely not a very pretty sight. If not taken care of in time, an infection may spread.
