Fungal infections are not a pretty sight

November 24, 2008

Fungus requires a damp area to survive where it gets plenty of moisture to grow and spread. Fungal infections can affect almost any part of the body, from head to toe, although the feet are a common area to become infected. Fungal infections leave the body scarred and pigmented thereby making it an unpleasant sight to look at.

While fungal infections can cause the nails to harden and discolour, the skin becomes sore and itchy. As the infection spreads, the itchiness increases and can become unbearable. Excessive itchiness also makes the skin rough and uneven. Fungal infections can be quite painful and difficult to deal with.

Fungal infections spread at a fast rate as the excessive moisture allows the fungus to multiply and grow. If we get too warm, sweat is bound to accumulate on our body thereby creating dampness between the toes and fingers.

In order to make sure that one stays clear of fungal infection it is advisable to maintain good hygiene. The entire body should be given proper care. While bathing habits should be regular, the feet should not be ignored as it is the obvious place for fungus to grow.

If a fungal infection has started, consider natural foot care as a way to cure it and prevent it happening again.
