The right treatment for any type of infection is a must, otherwise it becomes severe and damages the body part. Fungal infections that infect the foot need proper care and attention so that they heal properly and do not reappear. Early detection of fungal infection is important so that it can be nipped in the bud.
Fungal infections affect both young and the elderly; therefore there is no defined age for such infections. Fungal infections are caused due to fungus that grows and breeds in damp and moist areas. The region between the toes is most common for fungus to multiply, which is why once the fungal infection is noticed it is wise to get a check-up and correct treatment.
In most of the cases, fungal infections do not surface immediately. However, symptoms like itching, redness, soreness and roughness can be felt. A major reason for common occurrence of fungal infections is improper hygiene. Therefore cleanliness of feet is extremely important. Proper cleaning and washing of the feet can prevent the outburst of fungal infections.
Various antifungal creams are also advised by the doctors for soothing and reducing the infection. Dampness, wetness and moisture can be avoided by changing socks regularly, washing feet, drying them with a fresh cloth and wearing the right footwear. If good hygiene is maintained regularly then the feet will remain free from fungal infection.
