November 20, 2008

Fungal infections leave your nails thickened and unpleasant to look at. To identify the start of an infection, you may notice a sort of discolouration on the nails. If they are not your usual nail colour and appear yellow or hardened, the symptoms could suggest the beginning of a fungal infection.

Fungal infections take quite a lot of time to penetrate through the nail. Athlete’s foot can be considered as a fungal infection that infects the toe nail.

Treatment of nails infected by fungal infection can be done by using antifungal creams and oral medicines. The thickened nails can be thinned down by using special toe nail paint. However the procedure is too time consuming and so is the recovery.

Antifungal oils or oils that have anti fungal properties are a faster way to recover from fungal infections. The creams should be prescribed by a specialist and the application should be done as advised.

Oral medication also takes a lot of time heal the infection. However, oral medications that include natural oils allow the infection to heal without the interference of any other foreign body. Natural supplements keep the entire body strong and reduce pain or discomfort.
